The youngest son of a shifter family in New York, Avery was raised with access to nothing less than whatever's considered the best resources, despite being born out of wedlock. With being a bastard child and losing his mother at a very young age, Avery was in the care of multiple nannies. His upbringing was closely monitored by his stepmother for the sake of his father (and himself, but it certainly didn't feel like it). He intends to eventually have a major role in the family biotech and pharmaceutical business, the well-known Smith Corporation, formerly Smith Pharmaceuticals. Already working at the company as a pharmaceutical scientist, he is also a graduate student and teaching assistant at a private university. Avery doesn't ever explicitly state this, but he hopes to surpass his father, the current CEO, and older half-brother, who is in line to take over the company once their father retires or passes away. He believes that he could drive Smith Corp. into another path that it needs to take. However, this proves to be difficult given his career path. This makes him and his asses quite the target topic and amongst his family's competitors at times. With this in mind, he is also constantly on the lookout for any clues pertaining to his mother, having constant doubts on the statement that she died due to complications from giving birth. Maybe he might uncover something regarding his father’s business…___Birds of a Feather Flock Together...___
Due to his father's family tree, Avery is able to shift fully into a snowy owl (bubo scandiacus), though he had struggled with his abilities in his early life. With enough concentration he can do partial shifts as well, including large wings or legs/feet. He has exceptional hearing and sight, but ironically needs glasses in human form as he is farsighted. The rest of Avery’s family, except his birth mother**, are also owl shifters. When experiencing high levels of anxiety and stress, feathers may "grow" from his body, mainly on the crown of his head, which is extremely uncomfortable. He may try to pluck these feathers or shift them away. Despite a descendent of a proud shifter bloodline, Avery is also very cautious about shifting around non-shifters, practically to the point to where he's anxious to bring up his shifter traits casually. It's become a need to know basis. He will continue to disguise/pass as a human unless others detect his shifter genes or unless telltale signs are (unwillingly) shown.___Personality___
People may find Avery to appear somewhat stuck-up or arrogant or pretentious, but this is mostly due to the environment he was raised in and the walls he keeps up to guard himself. Cautious, but not cowardly. Avery will get offended if called the latter. On the contrary, he can also be rather courteous and occasionally flirty towards someone. It all depends on first impressions since it's hard to discern how he'll react until he finally opens his mouth (which does come with mixed reactions). He's one to be skeptical and prone to questioning things constantly. One may find it particularly annoying when he asks question after question, as answering a question may create a few more. Compared to his much stricter older brother, Avery could be considered rather carefree and maybe reckless. Both matched when it comes to influence, "... at least I'm not a pain in the..." is what he might remark if compared to the company heir. Analytical and creative, he knows better to not make a complete fool of himself and the family name, but that won't stop him from bickering anyway. ○ Has contact lenses, but prefers eyeglasses. Mostly wears contacts when he needs to wear other forms of eye protection in lab settings and such.**
○ Occasionally takes outdoor trips, either alone or with friends. Finds the woods calming.
○ Plays multiple instruments, primarily violin and piano. He used to participate in violin competitions until his senior year of high school.
○ Started playing tennis in senior year of high school and continues to play recreationally.
